"Voice to text" means two different things, and knowing which one you need saves real time. If you want to talk and watch words appear as you speak, that's live dictation — your phone's keyboard microphone already does it, and our dictation page covers that route. How can I do voice to text?

Dictation is for composing; transcription is for capturing — most people asking this question have a recording and need the second route.
Can I convert voice notes from WhatsApp or Messenger?
Yes. In WhatsApp, long-press the voice note → forward or share → save it as a file (it arrives as OGG audio). Messenger audio saves as MP4. Both upload directly — no conversion step. Short notes transcribe in seconds, and the whole flow works in your phone's browser.
Is voice to text free?

How do I convert voice to text on iPhone or Android?

What if the recording has more than one voice?
On every paid plan, segments arrive labeled Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on, and renaming a label once applies it through the whole transcript. For a personal memo with one voice, the free plan's plain transcript is all you need.
Is my voice recording private?
Yes — recordings are encrypted, never used to train AI models, auto-delete after 30 days (transcripts stay until you delete them), and paranoid mode erases the file the moment transcription finishes.
An honest note: Very quiet or mumbled voice memos — the kind recorded while walking with the phone in a pocket — transcribe worse than deliberate speech. If a memo matters, hold the phone near your mouth and speak normally; the difference in accuracy is larger than any setting we could offer.
