Does it handle regional Italian accents?
Regional accents of standard Italian — Milanese, Roman, Tuscan and so on — transcribe well. Actual regional languages like Sicilian, Neapolitan or Venetian are a different matter: they aren't Italian, and no mainstream model transcribes them reliably. Accented standard Italian, yes; dialect speech, treat as unsupported.
Can I get English text from an Italian recording?

What about Italian mixed with English?
English words and phrases inside Italian speech usually survive intact — common in business audio. Conversations that switch whole sentences between the two languages are harder for any model; pick the dominant language.
An honest note: Regional languages (Sicilian, Neapolitan, Venetian, Sardinian) are not Italian and don't transcribe reliably — a recording of a grandparent speaking dialect will come back rough. Standard Italian with a regional accent is fine; dialect itself is not.
