Dutch transcription handles both sides of the border: Netherlands Dutch and Belgian Flemish are the same written language, and both transcribe under the same setting. Compound words come out as the single long words Dutch actually writes (klanttevredenheidsonderzoek stays one word), and the ij digraph is preserved as written Dutch.
The everyday reality of Dutch business speech — English loanwords and whole English phrases dropped mid-sentence — transcribes well, because the models were trained on speech that sounds exactly like that. Meetings, standups and interviews where the deck is in English but the discussion is in Dutch are normal input, not an edge case.
Set the spoken language to Dutch before uploading for the most reliable result. Free to start: 60 minutes a month, TXT export; paid plans add every export format, and Pro adds stored English translation — the Dutch transcript and its English version kept side by side.
How it works
- 1Set 'Spoken language' to Dutch under the upload box.
- 2Upload the recording — Teams exports, MP3s, voice notes, video.
- 3Edit inline, export, or read the English translation (Pro).
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Does Flemish (Belgian Dutch) work?
Yes — Flemish is Dutch, and the same setting covers it. Strong regional accents (West Flemish, Limburgish) need clearer audio for the same accuracy, the way any strong accent does; the language setting doesn't change.
How does it handle English mixed into Dutch?
Well — Dutch professional speech borrows English constantly, and those words and phrases usually come through intact. Full sentence-by-sentence switching between the languages is harder; pick whichever language dominates the recording.
Can I get an English transcript of a Dutch meeting?
On Pro, yes: the Dutch speech is transcribed first, then translated to English, and both versions stay stored together — so a mishear is a visible Dutch error rather than an invisible English one.
Is there a free way to try Dutch transcription?
Yes — 60 minutes a month, files up to 30 minutes each, TXT export, no credit card. Enough to judge accuracy on your own recordings before paying anything.
An honest note: Frisian is a separate language, not a Dutch accent, and isn't supported. And as everywhere: meeting audio recorded from the far end of a conference table needs a heavier editing pass than a close microphone — the room matters more than the language.
